At Barstool Bets, we have very easy to follow rules for each contest. Here’s a quick guide to help answer all the most common questions regarding rules and eligibility.
What is the minimum age to enter a contest?
The minimum age to enter a contest is 18 years or older.
Can I play from outside the US?
No, the contests are only available in the US. Unfortunately, if you are a resident of or are located in one of the states where play may be restricted by your state legislature (currently Nevada and Washington State), you may not play in any game where a prize is awarded.
When are new contests posted?
New contests, including odds and lines, are posted 48 hours in advance of the fixed list of games.
When does a contest lock?
Contestants can enter a contest right up until the start time. The start date and time for each contest are clearly displayed at the top of each contest page. Once the contest has started, you no longer can enter the contest.
When does a contest end?
The contest ends when the fixed list of games are all over. You can place bets before the contest begins or live bet during a game. Odds and lines are updated live during the games. Once a bet is placed there is no going back and you can not make additional changes. Once all available points are used your entry is locked. Please note, customer support cannot make changes to any placed bet slips.
If I win a bet will I receive the addition to my balance in time to reuse it on a second bet?
Yes. Winning bets are paid out to your point balance immediately and can be used for future bets during the same contest.
Can I register multiple times for a contest?
Contestants are only allowed to use one Barstool Bets account. Certain contests will only allow one entry while others will allow multiple. Rules vary by contest. If Barstool Bets finds that a contestant has multiple accounts registered we can at our discretion withhold any prizes or cash that we suspect were won or credited by fraudulent means. Players are also not allowed to share accounts per regulations set by NJ DGE.
What happens to my bet on a game that is postponed?
All bets for that game will be considered a “push” and that game will not be counted.
What happens if there is a tie?
In order to prevent any possible ties in a contest, all players answer a question as they enter the contest. The question is normally “What will be the final point total for the top participant in this contest?”
At the conclusion of each contest, if there is a tie in points between 2 or more winners, we will award the prize to the player with the closest tiebreaker prediction. Applicable cash prizes will be divided equally between the tied winners if multiple people submit the same tiebreaker answer.
What happens if there is a scoring change?
Following the conclusion of a contest, if the final scoring of a game has changed, we will revise contest winners based on the real-time stats data from our 3rd party odds provider.
Will I have to pay taxes?
Yes, we will issue you a 1099 form for any contest winnings over $600 in a single calendar year. This form is also submitted to the IRS.
